Wow, the days have gotten away from me. I try my best always to post these on Mondays but then sometimes Monday comes and goes and you find yourself writing on a Tuesday morning. This year has gotten away from me. At the start of the year, I was looking forward to so many things. Starting my new role post promotion, our first parent trip without the baby, B’s first birthday, my mom and sister visiting, all the weddings, B starting daycare, seeing Johnnyswim, and the holidays. Now most of those things have happened and the holidays are almost over as well.
Where did the time go?
I was going to share some of my favorite things in today’s post but instead, I’m going to share some of my favorite memories from this year. With some photos of the munchkin.
In February we had our first big snowstorm of B’s life and it was so fun to see him experiencing snow. It’s safe to say, as you’ll see in the photos, that he didn’t enjoy it as much as I did.
In March we went on our first parent trip out of the state without the baby. We went to Atlanta with friends to see a show. At first, I truly felt like I was going to pass out when we got on the plane without him. I couldn’t catch my breath and it felt like I was leaving my heart at home but before I knew it I was feeling better and everyone had an amazing weekend.
The baby started swim lessons this year and we found out that he’s a little fishman!
This year we went to four different weddings and I went to two bachelorette parties. I don’t take it lightly when people invite us to their wedding. Weddings are typically one of the most important days in someone’s life and I’m grateful that they wanted to share it with us. Congratulations again to Katie and Andrew, Michael and Evelyn, Blayne and Tasen, and Brekken and Cole! We love you!
We celebrated B’s first birthday in May and it was amazing. The theme was space and (corny alert) let me be the first to say that it was out of this world! It was so nice to celebrate him and to think about our community who supported us throughout his first year. Thank you to everyone who was able to make it!
Some other fun things that happened this year is that I started playing pickleball and I love it. We took family photos with my mother-in-law. I had a Spooky birthday bash! I started to finally feel like myself and had to document it. Reconnected with one of my dear friends. Went to a Johnnyswim concert and got to take a picture with them and a bunch of other randos.
Overall, this was our best year yet and I’m so grateful for this life that I get to lead and the people that I get to do it with. I’ll be taking the next two weeks off to spend time with fam so see y’all in the new year.
XO,
N
